Scottsburg Fire and Rescue is a combination paid/volunteer department composed of 1 paid chief and 28 volunteer firefighters.  S. F. D. responds out of two stations, and covers an area of approximately 6 Sq. Miles, and protects nearly 7,000 people in the City of Scottsburg Indiana.  Scottsburg Fire Department responds to all fires, motor vehicle accidents, and most EMS runs in the City of Scottsburg; along with covering most of Finely Township for rescue and First Responder duties.  The City of Scottsburg realized the need for fire protection early on and created the Scottsburg Fire Department in early 1910.  From that time until the mid 1960's the only other organized fire department in the county was the Morgan's Foods Fire Department, which protected The town of Austin and John Morgan's Factories and other properties.   Scottsburg Fire Department is proud to serve under the direction of Chief James Richey, and the Honorable William H. Graham, Mayor. Scottsburg Fire and Rescue is an ISO Class V fire department.
